Why Amazon Is Taking Over The World

Why Amazon Is Taking Over The World

It’s not hard to imagine why a company that was started in Jeff Bezo’s garage in 1994, now has yearly revenue upwards of $130bn a year with over half a million employee’s. A company that started off selling books, grew rapidly over the next 24 years and has become the juggernaut it is today.

Kind of depressing when you think about it. I wish I had that business sense back then, but unfortunately, I was only 9 years old.

Despite their shortcomings every now and then with their Prime one day deliveries; about 90% of the time they’re brilliant with a fantastic customer service team.

All too often I’ve ran into troubles with deliveries, Amazon will make every effort to rectify the issue and provide replacements when necessary.

So it’s safe to say I love Amazon and if you’re not signed up with any of their subscription services, here are the best ones you should be using.

Audible.com

I took a chance on this one last year and I’ve been an avid subscriber since, having listened to over 30 books last year alone. I used to have loads of books on my shelf at home but very little time to read with work and life; then I got a job that required me to travel all over the country. After awhile you get sick of listening to your same five favourite songs, so I decided to give this a shot.

From the moment I signed up, I’ve been hooked. You get 1 credit a month for £7.99, it may seem a lot but it’s really not, considering how much audiobooks cost without a subscription. Once you are done with your new book, you can contact customer services and ask them to return it for you. The customer service advisor will do this with no questions asked. So if you are signed up for 6 months, you have six credits you can cash in and exchange whenever you want.

This is probably my favourite service they provide and the book selection on there is ridiculous. Sign up for a month by clicking here, if only to get your free audiobook and then cancel any time!

From the site:

What is Audible?

Audible is the publisher and distributor of the world’s largest selection of digital audiobooks and spoken-word content. Audible customers can listen anytime and anywhere to professionally narrated audiobooks across a wide range of genres, including bestsellers, new releases, sci-fi, romances, classics, and more.

An Audible Trial offers a great way for a customer to try audiobooks. With their Trial, customer will receive:

  • One free audiobook of their choice.
  • The ability to choose from 200,000-plus titles, including bestsellers, new releases, sci-fi, romances, mysteries, classics, and more.
  • After 30 days, if they choose not to cancel, they will receive one book each month for just £7.99/month.
  • The option to cancel easily, anytime; audiobooks already purchased are theirs to keep, even if they cancel.

Probably the best thing they sell of their site; Amazon Prime customers allows one day delivery on a huge amount of items. This service has been a must, being a very impatient man and all. When I want something, I want something now. I can bare to wait a day, but I cannot wait 3-5!

So when signing up you’ll notice one day delivery on every item that has the Prime Available logo next to it. While it costs £79 a year, you can choose to pay less a month at £7.99, but obviously this adds up to more over the run of a full year.

Plus is for whatever reason the one day delivery isn’t made, simply complain to them via chat and they will usually grant you a free month of Prime membership or a £5 gift voucher. Give it a go for a month for free by clicking here or the image above.

Bolstered by Amazon’s purchase of the Whole Foods brand; the range of foods on there is constantly growing. You can do an entire weekly shop on Amazon and have it delivered right to your door the very next day. In some cases, even same day! Quite a bargain for £6.99 a month for the service.
